'Purple' Kraken ('紫色'のクラーケン, Murasakiiro no Kurāken) is one of the Dragons that appear in the Unlimited Fafnir series. During its assault on Midgard Academy two years before the start of the story, it was killed by Mitsuki Mononobe.

Appearance[]

Kraken's body is comprised of numerous tentacles made out of mithril, the hardest alloy on the planet. A giant purple eye is situated in the middle of its body, which is where its antimatter projectiles originate from.

History[]

Kraken received its Authority at an unidentified time in the past to combat the Sixth True Dragon, 'Anomalous Dawn' Nyarlathotep, and succeeded in eliminating it. It then reappeared in the modern world 25 years before the events of the series along with the other Dragons. Two years before the events of the series, it assaulted Midgard with the intent of claiming Miyako Shinomiya as its mate. Although it succeeded, transforming Miyako into a Kraken as well, it was destroyed shortly afterwards by Mitsuki's antimatter arrow. However, before its death, it somehow impregnated the dragonified Miyako with its offspring, which was later born from her remains as Kraken Zwei, inheriting the original Kraken's Authority.

Powers and Abilities[]

Absolute: Kraken's Authority, Code Sechs, enables it to fire antimatter projectiles from its eye, which can destroy any form of matter through an annihilation reaction. It also grants it a protective coating of mithril around its body, making it extremely hard to damage. This combination of perfect offense and defense are what gave its ability the nickname 'absolute'. However, in order to fire antimatter, Kraken must expose its eye, thus lowering its defenses.

Marking: Like most Counterdragons, Kraken can mark a suitable D as a mate, transforming her into the same kind as itself upon contact.

Trivia[]

  • The Kraken is a legendary sea monster of large proportions that resembles a giant squid, an allusion to the Dragon's form.
  • According to Tear, Kraken developed a similar appearance to its adversary, Nyarlathotep, while evolving to better combat it.
